Nestled just off the coast of Palm Cove, Double Island is accessible by launch or helicopter. While the island is home to an exclusive resort, it is also open to the public who make their way over in kayaks, small crafts and even stand up paddle boards! Double Island offers mangroves, reef and even a cave or two to explore. The crystal clear water is perfect for spotting rays, dolphins and turltes. If you’re REALLY lucky you might even spy a dugong or whale. Kayak tours from Palm Cove normally take 20 minutes to reach the Island, with the whole tour taking 3.5 hours. Alternatively, on a flat day, hire a SUP and paddle out to the Island for sunrise!

Only 45 minutes from Cairns, Fitzroy Island is a well-known playground for locals. At Fitzroy Island, it’s all about rainforest, beaches and high reaches, with just as much to explore on land as in the sea. Bushwalking tracks provide incredible views across the Great Barrier Reef.
